Film Screening

Philadelphia 11 Documentary Film Image

For the 50th anniversary of the controversial ordination of women to the priesthood in Philadelphia on July 29, 1974, you are invited to a special screening of an extraordinary documentary. The film offers an opportunity to examine this pivotal and inspirational moment in the evolution of the Episcopal Church. It will be screened at Contra Costa Theatre in Martinez on July 21st at 5pm, hosted by the Diocese of California, and it is also available online for private viewing by signing up here

On August 4, St. Anselm's Parish will dedicate time after service, during coffee hour, to a discussion of the film and the impact of the events of 1974 and 1975 on the eventual decision by the Episcopal Church of the United States of America to allow for the full ordination of women.
