Staff Profiles

Rector
John Sutton, rector. I grew up in Piedmont, California, graduated from U.C. Berkeley, received an MBA and an MS in telecommunications from Golden Gate University, and a M. Div. from CDSP. I was a telecommunications consultant and a Naval Officer before I joined the priesthood. I am happy to be a part of a warm and loving community of faith.
T.C Yao, associate. I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. I came to the US in 1947. I was trained as a chemist, working on the Research staff of Shell Development for many years. In later years I ran my own industrial x-ray laboratory. I and a number of others were recruited by Bishop Pike as a core of the so-called “tent-making clergy”. I was ordained as a deacon in 1966, and as a priest in 1968. I was the co-vicar of St. Giles Episcopal Church, Moraga, from 1968 to1972. I have been an assistant at St. Anselm’s from 1972 to the present and an assistant at Church of Our Savior, Oakland, from 1968 to the present.
Naomi Chamberlain-Harris, deacon. I was born and raised in Oakland, California. In 2006 I retired from Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Walnut Creek and enrolled in the School of Deacons. In December of 2009 I was ordained by Bishop Marc Andrus and began my ministry at John Muir Medical Center as a volunteer chaplain. I also became the spiritual advisor to the consumers at Crestwood Healing Center in Pleasant Hill and began my ministry as the deacon at St. Anselm’s. It is a gift to be a part of the loving and caring community at St. Anselm’s.
Cathy Witkay, office manager. I was born in New Jersey and moved to the Chicago area in my early teens. I graduated from the University of Illinois and received an MBA from Saint Mary’s College of California. Before leaving the full-time work world to raise our three children, I was Vice President for fundraising and fund distribution with the United Way of the Bay Area. Prior to joining UWBA, I was the Manager, Corporate Advertising for Pacific Telesis Group and Pacific Bell. My husband and I were both raised in the Episcopal Church and have been part of this wonderfully giving faith community since 1991.
