Winter Nights

This year, everything is being done differently, including our ability to help feed and shelter families through the Winter Nights program. Our call to service this year includes providing supplies for the families, sheltered at Walnut Creek Friends Church, with fixings to make themselves breakfast and lunch, and providing gift certificates to local restaurants for dinner.

Please let Eva Woo Slavitt, eva94549@gmail.com or 925-876-9435 know if you are interested in either:

  1. Buying supplies for breakfasts and lunches, as well as things like paper plates, plastic utensils, coffee cups, etc. The volunteer for that day would check with the staff to see what’s needed, buy the supplies, and drop them off or arrange for delivery.
  2. Ordering and delivery of dinners prepared at restaurants. Again, staff would tell the volunteer for that day what is wanted. Because of COVID, we can’t be on site to prepare and serve the meals and interact with the guests, which we really enjoyed doing, but safety first.
  3. All this is obviously going to cost money. We would appreciate a donation of any amount. We also are looking for donors that would be willing to sponsor a dinner for the 4 families with a donation of $300 per night. Donations should be to St. Anselm’s with Winter Nights on the memo line with a check, or by Venmo. If you are willing/able to sponsor a nightly dinner for $300, or if you have any questions, please get in touch with Anne Brown, annechalfantbrown@gmail.com or 925-788-0664.
